My day started super early, and not after a good sleep (the room was weird, bed was short, couldn’t warm up my sleeping bag with a warm bottle as I usually do, because no hot water was left, and I just didn’t like it there😒).
So I got up at 4:40 (I’m awake at this time only when I have a business trip – def not a vacation mode!), got dressed and set off for a trek to Kala Patthar (5545m I think). Notice – no breakfast!!! Outside was like -10, feet and hands freezing, my throat already hurts and I have a runny nose, so both my respiratory holes failed and at altitude above 5000m, that might be a problem🙂
And to do some physical activity on an empty stomach? I can usually barely walk.. So it didn’t go very well. I think I reached 3/4 and then gave up, screw the sunrise, screw the view, I didn’t want to die of hunger and frostbites. Not to mention that another long trek was waiting today!
So we returned, I tried to defrost my frozen butt and limbs near the heater (partially successful) and ate breakfast, finally! Peanut butter jelly sandwich, I deserved that caloric bomb! Then quickly packed my stuff and went back to Lobuche (2h slightly downhill, except the glacier crossing).
After a short tea break, at around 10:30, we set off to Dzonglha. And so far, this was the most beautiful trek here in Himalayas❤️ I felt that each time the route was turining, I was entering more and more beautiful place. It was so magical that I felt like I’m in the Lord of the Rings world😅😍 The scenes from the movie where almost identical to the real world around me (imagine the camera slowly coming out of a cliff and then spectacular and breathtaking view appears). It continued like this till we reached Dzonglha. And I made it in 2h!💪
The lodge we are staying at is very cozy, I like it way better than the previous one. I have fancy fleece blankets and sheets in the room – warm sleep guaranteed!
And what’s more! Here, in the middle of nowhere, in a village in high mountains, far away from civilization….. GAS SHOWER IS AVAILABLE!!!😱😱😱
So finally after 5 days I feel like a human being again. Clean hair, nice smelling – it’s the best. I even did some manicure🙄 Too fancy for the yaks around me you say? So what, I’m the one who looks at my nails most of the time anyway😜
And tomorrow? Cho La pass😵 I’ll try to reach Gokyo directly, not stopping in the village after the pass. So maybe another 8-10h trek? Prakash says yes😨 Uff, I’d better be sleeping good tonight!
