So today we planned to do some sightseeing around here. Nothing extreme, just sleep long, then go out and come back again, but…
But my lower back decided that today is the day to hurt the most. I decided to fight back and find an acupuncture center and I succeeded! There was one spa / wellness center / physical therapy center (Ananda Natural Therapy) on TripAdvisor with over 70 positive reviews, so I decided to give it a try. TripAdvisor said that the center should be near the airport, so we booked a taxi and set off. Terrible traffic today – Sunday is a working day as we soon found out and the ride took us around 40mins I think. But then I googled the therapy center and guess what, Google said it should be near our hotel. What!?
We discussed with the driver, he called there and they confirmed that they moved recently and TripAdvisor is outdated. Ahhh..
So another 40mins drive back😓
Finally we arrived. We came there, I described my pain and current state and we agreed to do acupuncture, acupressure, electrical therapy and deep tissue massage (I really wanted to feel better before the trek haha😁). Lubi ordered massage as well and then we went to the room.
Acupuncture – my first experience ever. The needles really don’t hurt!😅 But finding points on my back that hurt and therefore should be punctured hurt like hell (yes, tears were there😭). Never mind, this procedure took approximately 30mins. I don’t know how to describe it – I felt like the energy was kind of flowing differently in there? Like it tries to get rid of the pain but with no luck, because it’s stuck very deep in the back? I don’t know. But it was interesting at least.
Acupressure – again my first time. And OMG, that pain was real. Every point that he pressed (no matter where – feet, calves, back, arms) was extremely painful and made me completely forget my lower back pain. But then I felt very relaxed.
Electrodes – nothing new, just buzzing on my back.
And the deep tissue massage. Save the best for last, right? This time I cried for real, no time to play brave and strong. I’ve never experienced a pain like this ever in my life and I hope I never will again. Just imagine having stiff shoulders and getting a massage – hurts, right? Now multiply the pain by 1000 and that’s what it felt like.
But at the end… I could move!! The pain was still there though, but compared with morning I felt like I was born again. Almost pain free. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long this feeling and now I feel my back again, but still very mildly – and especially without any painkillers. So overall improvement!👍 Yaaay!
When we got out, it was 4pm… So Kathmandu sights have to wait until we come back from the trek. I feel quite bad for Lubi – being stuck with me instead of exploring the city.. Sorry!☹️
So then we ate late lunch / early dinner and went back to the hotel to pack our things and get ready for tomorrow. Flight to Lukla and first trekking awaits!😱😍
